We do not knowingly collect sensitive information such as health records, Social Security numbers, or financial account numbers through the Site, and we ask you not to send them to us.

How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • Deliver the newsletter, free downloads, podcast, memberships, and purchases you request.
  • Respond to your messages and support requests.
  • Moderate comments and reviews and keep the Site secure and free of spam.
  • Understand how people use the Site so we can improve our content, recipes, and offerings.
  • Send you updates and promotions about our content and programs, if you opted in.
  • Show advertising and measure its performance.
  • Meet legal obligations and protect our rights.

How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not rent it. We share it only in these ways:

  • Service providers that work on our behalf and are bound to protect your information, such as our website host, email and newsletter platforms (including Substack), payment processors, course platform, form and spam-filtering tools, and analytics providers.
  • Advertising and analytics partners, which may collect data through cookies on the Site, as explained below.
  • Legal and safety reasons, such as responding to a subpoena, court order, or government request, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is needed to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
  • Business transfers. If Sunny Side Up Nutrition is sold, merged, or otherwise transferred, your information may transfer to the new owner, who must honor this policy or give you notice of changes.
  • Aggregated or de-identified data that cannot reasonably be used to identify you.

Some of our service providers are located outside the United States. By using the Site, you understand your information may be processed in the U.S. or other countries.

Cookies, analytics, and advertising

A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser so it can recognize you on later visits. We and our partners use cookies, pixels, and similar tools to keep the Site working, remember your preferences, understand traffic, and show ads.

  • Essential cookies keep the Site secure and let features like login and checkout work.
  • Analytics cookies tell us which pages are popular and how visitors move through the Site. [Name your analytics tool, e.g., Google Analytics.]
  • Advertising cookies let our ad partners show you ads that may interest you, including ads based on your activity on this and other sites. [Name your ad network, if any.]
  • Affiliate cookies let retailers such as Amazon credit us when you buy after clicking one of our links.

Your choices. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the Site may not work properly. You can opt out of interest-based ads through the Digital Advertising Alliance at optout.aboutads.info and the Network Advertising Initiative at optout.networkadvertising.org. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of targeted advertising where required by law. Because there is no common standard for “Do Not Track” signals, we do not respond to them separately.

This policy covers our own use of cookies. Advertisers and other third parties set their own cookies, which are governed by their own policies.

Email, newsletter, and podcast

We send marketing emails only to people who sign up or otherwise opt in, such as by checking the consent box on a form. Our newsletter is delivered through Substack, and some freebies and forms use our website’s email tools. Substack’s handling of your data is also governed by its own privacy policy.

Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also email [contact email] to be removed. We may still send transactional messages, such as purchase receipts and account notices, which you cannot opt out of while you have an account or an order with us.

Our podcast is distributed through third-party hosting and listening platforms such as Apple Podcasts and Spotify. These platforms collect their own listening data, and we may see aggregated download and audience statistics, but not your personal identity.

Your choices and privacy rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to stop using it for marketing. Depending on where you live, state privacy laws (for example, in California, Virginia, Colorado, and Connecticut) may give you additional rights, including:

  • Knowing what categories of personal information we collect and why.
  • Getting a copy of your information in a portable format.
  • Correcting inaccurate information and requesting deletion.
  • Opting out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal information, or sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Not being treated differently for exercising these rights.

We do not sell personal information for money. Some uses of advertising cookies may count as “sharing” or a “sale” under certain state laws, and you can opt out through the cookie choices above.

To make a request, email [contact email]. We may need to verify your identity first. You can also appoint an authorized agent to act for you, and if we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, to meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations, and to resolve disputes. Newsletter subscriber information is kept until you unsubscribe. Comments and reviews stay on the Site until we or you remove them.

How we protect information

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect personal information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or destruction. No website or transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children’s privacy

The Site is written for parents and caregivers and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email [contact email] and we will delete it.

Health information

Sunny Side Up Nutrition is an educational content business. Using the Site, joining the membership, or emailing us does not create a dietitian-client relationship, and information you send us is not protected as health information under HIPAA. Please do not send medical records, diagnoses, or detailed health histories through the Site, comments, or email. If you want individualized nutrition care, contact a qualified provider directly.

The Site links to and embeds content from other websites, social media platforms, and retailers. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their policies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and change the “Last updated” date above. If a change is significant, we will also notify you by email or a notice on the Site. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
